FFRGOC, through its officers and members, has helped the very poor on our local community through resources be it money or home cooked food, fruits and salads plus volunteer their services before COVID19 to serve the homeless and needy through Mary's Kitchen in Orange, CA. This helping the needy is in addition to our Seminar Scholarship Program.

As practicing Catholics, FFRGOC officers and members, have helped those less fortunate through Mary's Kitchen, founded in 1984 by Mary McKenna, an 82 year old nurse from Ireland.

Lorraine Betts, FFRGOC Press Relations Officer brought the possible closure of Mary's Kitchen to President Debbie and the Board of Directors, based on an article that she read written by Paul Hogan, Opinion Editor of the Voice of Orange County last June 8, 2021 as per link below.

There is ongoing controversy on what to do with Mary's Kitchen although the City of Orange has ordered Mary's Kitchen to close their doors on July 31, 2021 forcing them to move from city property.

Brandon Ho of the Voice from OC wrote also another article last June 22, 2021 about Mary;s Kitchen closure as per link below:

What caught my attention is the following:

"Seuss worries what will happen to the local homeless population if the kitchen isn’t around:

“Where are they going to go to shower? To use the bathroom? To get food and clothing and just to have a place where they can be between 9 and 3 without being afraid that something will happen to them?”

Sitkoff said the city will try to help Mary’s Kitchen figure out how to meet the 90-day deadline to leave: “We’re going to work closely with them to make sure they meet the deadline — we do not plan to leave them cast off and figuring out how to meet that deadline.”

Another article related to City of Orange ending their agreement with Mary's Kitchen written by Tess Sheets was published in the Orange County Register last June 22, 2021 as per link below:

FFRGOC is committed to give back to our local community and President Debbie Gonzales sent an email to Glenn Puzon and the Board of Directors for suggestions for another local charitable ministry that FFRGOC can participate in and to keep in touch with Patrick Galiiger of Mary's Kitchen on whatever FFRGOC can do even on a limited basis.
