Giving back to the community Via Orange County Rescue Mission - First Feeding

Updated: May 16, 2022

What could be more visible to show God's love and mercy ( part of our mission statement ) was the first feeding at Orange County Rescue Mission, Tustin, CA achieved by our volunteers - FFRGOC Board of Directors officers and directors and area officers/members who discounted their own hectic activities especially during tax season in order to feed and help the people with different social issues including health issues with their basic need i.e. food .

This is the first time FFRGOC was involved with this well organized and run like clock work organization complete with its mission, programs with their own policies, rules and regulations, leaders, financials and companies that support their different programs and how everyone can help.

Our President Helen Alonso together with the Board of Directors Officers and Chapters/Activities Directors had to look for another local charity organization due to the legal problems of Mary's Kitchen with the City of Orange, whom FFRGOC has supported for years .

And we did and found Orange County Rescue Mission. Our President, Helen Alonso contacted the Hannah Kim, representative of Orange County Rescue Mission and had successfully established this first feeding last April 16, 2022 . Proper policies, rules and regulations were provided including the number of volunteers allowed, when the lunch will be served and what time the volunteers should arrive and take their own lunches after the feeding.

Our ducks are also in a row for other feedings this coming July 16 c /o Southwest Chapter Director, Rica Werner and October 15, 2022 c /o Northwest Chapter Director, Evelyn Ruiz and Central West Chapter c /o Lu Katimbang and January 21, 2023 c /o Central East Chapter Director, Necy Arrabaca and c /o Northwest Chapter Director, Estela Beltran. That is good planning of FFRGOC!

Proper policies, rules and regulations including waiver signed by each volunteer were carefully read and properly adhered to by FFRGOC volunteers.

Our South Chapter Director, Amie Ursabia, who hosted the feeding, championed the first feeding using her organization/leadership skills in putting together an effictive team with other board of directors officers and directors plus South Chapter officers and members of areas. And we are grateful especially for the timing to do all these activities considering she is a CPA with clients and deadlines to meet during tax season. Collection of funds was done, proper food including Orange County Rescue Mission request for vegetables and fruits due to health issues of some residents were prepared/ordered and were able to serve 135-140 people in total. Thanks Aime also for providing these beautiful pictures.

We thank the following14 volunteers (not to exceed 15):

  • Area 1 - Cora Narciso, Aimee Castillo, Lilia Villanueva

  • Area 3 - Elena Casanova, Zeny De Ocampo, Chakie De Guzman

  • Area 4- Fortune Zagra, Zenaida A. Sy, Lutchie Virtucio, Aime L. Ursabia

  • Board - Helen Alonso, Fely Claudio, Sol Solorano

  • Southwest Chapter - Rica Werner (OCRM Sponsor for July 16, 2022 to learn first hand and in person)

The pictures below show the commitment of these volunteers to help others:

After the feeding, volunteers with Aime Ursubia, South Chapter Director had their lunches .

Our Board of Directors with Rica Werner, Southwest Chapter Director, Helen Alonso, President, Sol Sollarano, Auditor, Fely Claudio, First VP and Wally Claudio, Director of Charity had also their own lunches after the feeding

FFRGOC expresses our sincere appreciation to all these volunteers in action to help others!

We also need to give credit to our Director of Charity, Wally Claudio and his wife Fely Claudio, First VP of FFRGOC who picked up most of the food served to the residents of Orange County Rescue Mission. He also visited Orange County Rescue Mission ahead of time to make sure everything will go as planned.

FFRGOC is committed to help others through our members, board of directors officers, activities and chapter directors and spiritual advisor, Father Juan Caboboy in the best way we can.

Please get involved and also make your life meaningful to others!

I love this meaning of HOPE shared by Healing Light through Facebook and want to share to all of you.
