Criteria/Process to apply to FFRGOC Seminarian Scholarship Program and Requirements for Scholars

In response to some applicants who have written to the web administrator of this website, FFRGOC Seminarian Scholarship Program Director Elizer M. Ruiz, S.K. spelled out the Seminarian Scholarship Program Admission Criteria/Process as follows:


A. Initial Criteria for Consideration of Candidates:

  1. The candidate must have completed his college course (with a Bachelor's Degree) and in the final stage (Theologate) of his priestly formation studying or about to study theology.

  2. The candidate must be a Diocesan seminarian of Diocese in need.

  3. The candidate must submit letters of recommendation from:

  • The Rector of the major seminary, the Bishop of the Diocese, and Seminarian's Parish Priest;

  • The Rector of Philosophy Seminary and

  • The Dean of Studies.

B. Eligibility Criteria (part of Initial Criteria for Acceptance to the program):

Submit the following information:

  1. Personal Profile (or Resume);

  2. Family Background and Financial Status;

  3. One Page Essay entitled "Why I deserve the support of FFRGOC"

  4. One Page Essay entitled "Why I want to be a priest"

  5. Statement of Financial Expenses from the school burser, detailing projected expenses such as tuition, books and board and lodging expenses (for the school term following acceptance). This information is used by FFRGOC for budgeting.

B. Requirement from current scholar(s):

  1. Submit periodic report card (grades of just completed semester).

  2. Submit financial needs (i.e. tuition, books, board and lodging, etc.) prior to the incoming semester.

  3. Submit financial statement from school administration to support financial needs above.

Items A and B will be submitted to FFRGOC for consideration and acceptance to the Program. Upon acceptance of the new scholar, the Seminary must issue a written statement certifying that FFRGOC is the sole benefactor for the seminarian scholar.


Item C requirements will be submitted to FFRGOC for individuals who are already recipients of the scholarship grant to avail funding for the subsequent school period.
