I particularly like the symbolism of the lighted candles displayed on the Power point presentation
Traditionally, All Souls Day is celebrated on November 2. FFRGOC celebrates Memorial Day Mass as scheduled and planned by the Board of Directors and we had it last November 9, 2024.
Program and Participants of our Memorial Mass
The main purpose of the Mass is to pray for the souls of the deceased especially those in the purgatory and a day of remembrance of our loved ones who passed away. For me, it has a very special meaning because on this particular mass that usually takes an hour, I devote my thoughts to pray especially for all my immediate family members who I terribly miss from brothers to sisters to parents and grandparents.
We, as FFRGOC members or board officers, are so lucky we have a spiritual director, Father Juan Caboboy, who devotes his time every year to pray to God to grant mercy and peace to our departed. A list of names is prepared from the board officers and chapter directors for each of their chapter/area and compiled by Mary Ann Puzon, First VP and displayed on a board and included in a power point presentation for everyone to see and pray for.
The selection of the songs especially in Tagalog is so apt to remembering our loved ones and the use of black color of the choir members under Glen Puzon, President of the Holy Rosary Philippine Chamber Chorale's approval is very much apt to the event. I particularly wore my white lace dress that I used during the funerals of my loved ones and glad I still fit on it despite the time that has passed to honor and respect them.
"Saan Man Ka Naroroon" is so beautiful song the lyrics and hymn
First Reading was made by Evelyn Ruiz, our Director for Religious Services
Prayer of the Faithful by Mary Ann Puzon (Note the black color worn by choir members on the background including her since she is part of the choir)
Another beautiful song that the choir sang was "Hindi kita Malilimutan" This song touches my heart personally remembering my parents and two brothers
Yes, hindi kita malilimutan
Father Caboboy doing his homily asking everyone to pray and live a good holy life (Note the board with the list of names of the departed and the candles symbolizing each of our loved ones and later distributed to people who requested for prayers)
Father Caboboy mentioned in his homily this very beautiful and healthy tree outside the church and we should be like that tree
These Tagalog songs were so beautifully sang by the choir (Will upload short videos later)
Mass ended with a humbling song "Sino Ako" and so apt to make us humble and kind
FFRGOC expressing our gratitude and say the final prayer for our departed ones
The mass celebration ended and all attendees went to a special hall to get our Italian food i.e. pasta, salad, bread and dessert and drinks and enjoy each other company.
Thank you for reading this blog and be part of us remembering and praying for our departed love ones.
